EngageDesk
Privacy
EngageDesk is a CRM for Microsoft partners, run by Trev The Dev (Pty) Ltd, trading as TTD Consulting, in South Africa. Each company that uses it (the account owner) decides what goes into it; EngageDesk processes it for them, under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
What EngageDesk keeps
- What a company's team adds: accounts, business contacts, deals, conversations, open threads and notes, each with its history (who changed what, and when).
- From a person's own Outlook, if they connect it: who an email or meeting was with, its subject, when, a link to it, and a short summary. Never the email itself or its attachments. Only that person sees it until they share it.
- For each contact, why the company may keep their details and what for.
Where it's kept
- Records are stored in Microsoft Azure in South Africa North. The web app's own files are served from Azure in West Europe.
- The AI features use Microsoft's Azure OpenAI service, which may process a request outside South Africa. Email addresses, phone numbers, ID numbers and card and bank account numbers are taken out before anything is sent, and Microsoft doesn't use it to train its models.
- When someone uses EngageDesk from Microsoft 365 Copilot, Teams or ChatGPT, that service processes what they ask and what EngageDesk answers.
How long
- Records stay until the company deletes them. Backups are kept 30 days, and the AI request log 30 days.
- A company's owner can download everything EngageDesk holds for it, or close the account and delete all of it.
Your rights
You can ask what is held about you, and have it corrected or deleted. Ask the company that holds your details: its EngageDesk owner can export, correct or erase a person's details, including their history. You can also contact TTD Consulting through ttdconsulting.net, or complain to South Africa's Information Regulator.
